– Top UH Graduate Programs Recognized in 2024 U.S. News & World Report Rankings

The University of Houston once again demonstrates its excellence in graduate education, with 13 programs securing places in the top 50 nationwide in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report graduate program rankings. Among these programs, three engineering programs are awaiting the release of the 2024 engineering rankings, which have been postponed. Overall, UH boasts 17 programs in the top 50.

Four UH graduate programs are ranked in the top 10 nationwide, with three programs from the UH Law Center leading the way: Health Care Law (No. 7), Part-Time Law (No. 8), and Intellectual Property Law (No. 8). The Petroleum Engineering program at the Cullen College of Engineering maintains its No. 9 ranking, pending the upcoming rankings in the field. Since 2020, UH has experienced a 70% increase in the number of graduate programs achieving a top 50 ranking.

Diane Z. Chase, UH’s senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, expressed pride in the recognition of these programs and the exceptional quality of faculty, staff, and students. The university’s commitment to providing top-tier professional and graduate programs aligns with its goal of becoming a top 50 public university.

This year, seven UH Law Center specialty programs are among the Top 50 in the country, with three programs ranked No. 1 in Texas.

U.S. News annually ranks professional school programs in various fields, including business, education, engineering, law, medicine, and nursing, with specialties within each area. The rankings consider factors such as enrollment numbers, job placement rates, and faculty statistics to aid prospective students in making informed choices.

The top-ranked programs receive recognition as the “best of” by U.S. News. The University of Houston is featured in the 2024 graduate program lists for Best Business Schools, Best Health Schools, Best Public Affairs Schools, Best Science Schools, Best Law Schools, and Best Education Schools.
