– Top National Rankings for Four Neag School Graduate Programs

For the first time, UConn’s four graduate programs have achieved recognition among the top in the nation according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

Moreover, the Neag School has secured its position for the ninth consecutive year as one of the top 25 public graduate schools of education in the United States, sharing the No. 24 spot. Nationally, encompassing both public and private institutions, the Neag School is tied at No. 34.

Dean Jason G. Irizarry expressed immense pride in the faculty, staff, and students for their hard work and commitment that culminated in these notable rankings. The inclusion of four programs in specialty lists underscores the exceptional standards maintained across all Neag School departments, reaffirming its status as a premier public graduate school of education.

The 2024 specialty education program rankings feature representation from each of the Neag School’s three departments. While the special education program had previously been ranked, climbing four places from its position at No. 17 last year, the remaining three programs have made their debut in this year’s rankings.

During the fall of 2023 and early 2024, U.S. News gathered data on statistical metrics and reputation from education schools nationwide offering doctoral degrees in education. Out of 456 schools surveyed, 265 responded, with 255 meeting the criteria for ranking inclusion.

The rankings methodology incorporates nine distinct indicators, such as total research expenditures, student selectivity, and peer assessment scores. Specialty rankings rely solely on nominations by deans of education schools and deans of graduate studies at education schools among the surveyed institutions, as per U.S. News guidelines.
