This Pioneering Cannabis Graduate Program Is A Blend Of Social Work And Marijuana, Here’s Why Students Should Apply

Cannabis education is slowly paving its way toward entering medical schools with the research body growing exponentially over the past year. Simultaneously, there’s a growing need for more knowledgeable medical cannabis experts nationwide as the stigma around the plant is fading and the therapeutic potential of cannabis in the U.S. is getting increasingly acknowledged. The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW) has teamed up with the School of Pharmacy to address the increased demand for more cannabis professionals. The collaboration resulted in a new dual graduate program – MSW and Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics Post Baccalaureate Certificate – for which UMB claims it’s “only one in the country.”

SFA’s Fraser named Fulbright Scholar

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Dr. Roslyn Fraser, associate professor of sociology in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Anthropology, Geography and Sociology, has been named Fulbright Scholar for the 2024-25 academic year.The Fulbright Program, the United States government’s flagship program for international educational and cultural exchange, selects university faculty members and professionals to conduct research, teach and produce artistic and professional projects in other countries in an effort to find solutions to challenges facing our world.

ODU Announces Captain Janet H. Days ’99 and Lawrence Weinstein, Ph.D. as May 2024 Commencement Speakers

Captain Janet H. Days ’99, commanding officer for Naval Station Norfolk, will be among the featured speakers at Old Dominion University’s 140th Commencement exercises on May 3 and 4, 2024. Captain Days will speak at the Undergraduate Ceremony on May 4. She assumed the post as the 51st commanding officer of Naval Station Norfolk in February 2023, becoming the first Black woman to hold that position.
