To facilitate internship placements, the Career Services team at SOM initiates the process by assisting students in refining their resumes and optimizing their LinkedIn profiles. Moreover, they stress the significance of active involvement in student organizations and participation in case competitions to enhance students’ competitiveness in the internship market. Beginning in the fall semester of 2023, SOM implemented a new Career Services component within the mid-degree management course requirements. This addition allowed for the evaluation of students’ internship statuses, with personalized one-on-one sessions offered to support their progress as needed.
Whitney Racketa, Assistant Director of Career Services at SOM, emphasized the pivotal role internships play in students’ career trajectories post-graduation. The career advising strategies extend beyond mere resume critiques and job search techniques, focusing on providing diverse opportunities for students to gain hands-on business experiences on campus.
