**Introducing Howard University’s First Human Development Degree Completion Program**

WASHINGTON – The Howard University School of Education is thrilled to announce the launch of its inaugural degree completion program for a Bachelor of Science in Human Development.

The newly introduced 100% online program offers flexibility and the advantages of distance learning for prospective students who have successfully completed 60 to 72 approved credit hours from an accredited college or university, maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2, and have not acquired college or university credits for at least one year. The classes are scheduled to commence in fall 2024.

Students majoring in human development will explore interdisciplinary methodologies for studying and advocating human development across various life stages from conception through to aging and death. The faculty members are dedicated to ensuring that students develop cultural responsiveness to social justice matters by instructing them on empowering individuals and communities in diverse and marginalized environments.

“We are thrilled to offer a pathway for individuals who aspire to finish their college education. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have a rich tradition of being sources of inspiration, granting unparalleled access to higher education, irrespective of one’s background, thereby empowering generations to achieve their utmost potential,” expressed Dawn Williams, Ph.D., the dean of the Howard University School of Education. “Degree completion programs not only unlock new professional prospects but also symbolize the resilience and perseverance of those who pursue them.”

The applications for this program will be open from Monday, March 18, until Thursday, May 30. For students seeking scholarship opportunities, the application deadline is set for Wednesday, May 1. Howard University will conduct virtual information sessions regarding the program on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout April.

The Howard University School of Education holds a position among the top 75 graduate schools according to U.S. News and World Report, underscoring the university’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of academic distinction.

“This is an era of remarkable innovation in digital and online education. The realm of online learning remains one of the swiftly expanding sectors in higher education, and I am delighted that Howard University is responding to this escalating demand,” stated Morris Thomas, Ph.D., Assistant Provost for Digital and Online Learning. “Specifically focusing on students who initiated their degrees but had to pause and are now prepared to resume, our degree completion program offers accessibility to those who are unable to pursue a conventional in-person program at Howard University. Ultimately, we are broadening opportunities and our outreach.”
