TOEFL, a standardized test designed to assess the English language proficiency of non-native speakers aspiring to enroll in English-speaking universities, is undergoing a significant change in the way candidates’ scores are validated by U.S. universities.

The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has announced that American universities will now have the option to verify TOEFL test scores through their educational partners in India.

Princeton-based ETS, which conducts exams like TOEFL and GRE, has partnered with Career Mosaic, a leading student recruiter for US universities in South Asia, for score verification.(HT file)ETS, headquartered in Princeton and known for administering exams such as TOEFL and GRE, has entered into a partnership with Career Mosaic, a prominent student recruitment agency for U.S. universities in South Asia, to facilitate score verification. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is crucial for non-native English speakers seeking admission to English-speaking universities, and this new validation process aims to enhance the credibility of candidates during the enrollment process.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Career Mosaic to authenticate TOEFL scores of applicants to U.S. universities, thereby bolstering the universities’ confidence in the submitted scores. This partnership highlights the shared dedication of both organizations to offer universities reliable and effective solutions for assessing the English language proficiency of prospective students,” stated Sachin Jain, country manager, ETS India and South Asia.

Recent modifications to the test structure have been implemented to improve the testing experience for candidates. These changes include shortening the test duration to under 2 hours from the previous 3 hours and providing applicants with immediate access to their official score release date upon test completion.

“The validation services provided by ETS through Career Mosaic in India can significantly enhance the credibility of student profiles shared with U.S. institutions. This collaboration will strengthen the integrity of TOEFL test scores, benefiting both universities and the increasing number of Indian students pursuing higher education opportunities in the USA,” commented Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director at Career Mosaic.
