### Top Accolades for Ysleta ISD in School Rankings Across West Texas

EL PASO, Texas () — Ysleta Independent School District boasts some of the highest-performing schools in West Texas, as indicated by the rankings unveiled by the nonprofit research and advocacy organization, Children at Risk.

Ysleta ISD secures the top position for its elementary school, middle school, and clinches the third spot for its high school, based on the rankings. Children At Risk’s primary objective is to empower parents throughout Texas by providing insights into the performance of their local schools.

In the recently published 2023 Greater West Texas Elementary School Rankings, Vista Hills Elementary School claims the coveted first place with an impressive overall grade of A-. Additionally, six other Ysleta ISD schools feature among the top 10 schools in West Texas. These include:

  • Glen Cove ES at No. 3 with an “A” grade
  • Tierra Del Sol ES at No. 4 with a grade of B+
  • North Star ES at No. 5 with a grade of B+
  • Eastwood Heights ES at No. 8 with a grade of B+
  • Alicia R. Chacon International at No. 6 with a grade of B+
  • Edgemere International at No. 9 with a grade of B+

In the 2023 Greater West Texas Middle School Rankings, the Young Women’s Leadership Academy secures the top spot with an outstanding overall grade of A. It is followed by the K-8 Alicia R. Chacon International School at No. 2 with a grade of A-, and Eastwood Knolls International School at No. 6 with a grade of B+.

Furthermore, Valle Verde Early College High School from Ysleta ISD clinched the third position in this year’s Greater West Texas High School Rankings. Hanks High School ranked at No. 13, and Bel Air High School at No. 17, also making it to the top 20 high schools in West Texas.

The rankings for the 2022-23 school year evaluated 218 public schools in West Texas, comprising 127 elementary schools and 55 middle schools assessed across three primary areas, along with 36 high schools evaluated across four key areas, which include:

  • Student Achievement – Assessing student performance on state standardized tests
  • Campus Performance – Comparing a school’s test scores with those of schools having similar poverty levels
  • Growth – Evaluating students’ progress on their STAAR tests within a school year
  • College Readiness (high schools only) – Tracking the graduation rates and participation in college readiness programs

Additionally, seven other Ysleta ISD elementary schools — Glen Cove, Ramona, Sageland, Pebble Hills, Desertaire, Ysleta, and Loma Terrace — were recognized as Gold Ribbon schools, denoting high-performing traditional campuses with significant poverty levels exceeding 75%, and achieving A or B grades in the rankings.
