Sixty-six percent of all Westmoreland County Public Schools’ students participate in some form of a music program. From the tiny voices emanating from the rafters at the two elementary schools to the lofty music played by earnest music students at the middle and high school, WMLCPS has long been a haven for musical talent.

This year, five dynamic music teachers: Barry Suddeth, Cople Elementary; Sabrina Passaretti, Washington District Elementary; Bruce Passaretti, Montross Middle School band, Caitlyn Rodgers, choir; and Sam Heiger, Westmoreland High School have been recognized for their contributions in musical training. WMLCPS was recently recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) as one of 975 school districts that are “among the best communities in the nation for musical education.”
