Boston Latin’s high rank came as a result of the high rate of students who take Advanced Placement courses and a high rate of proficiency for students in math and reading, according to the rankings.
The rankings lauded the Western Massachusetts charter school for its 100% graduation rate and the high percentage of students who take and pass at least one International Baccalaureate exam.
Rounding out the top five in Massachusetts are: , which placed 192 in the national rankings, in Marlborough, which placed 228, and which landed at 235.
While Massachusetts may not have had the most schools in the top 100, it did have the . About 44% of the state’s eligible schools landing in the top quarter of the more than 17,000 schools ranked.
The top-ranked school nationwide was in Arizona, with in Evansville, Indiana, in Redmond, Washington, in Philadelphia, and in Chicago rounding out the top five.
