### Dr. Keith Wood Approved as Superintendent by Valley View Board of Education

The Valley View Community Unit School District 365U Board of Education has endorsed the appointment of Dr. Keith Wood as the Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Wood’s official contract extends until June 30, 2025.

Having commenced his tenure with VVSD in 2011 as the Principal of Brooks Middle School, Dr. Wood has diligently served in this capacity for the past 13 years. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Illinois State Board of Education honored Dr. Wood as the Middle School Principal of the Year in 2022. Moreover, he was selected to represent Illinois in the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Dr. Wood obtained his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Subsequently, he pursued further academic achievements by completing a master’s degree in school leadership at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995, followed by a doctoral degree in school leadership from Loyola University Chicago in 2002. Currently, Dr. Wood serves as an Advisory Board Member and Co-Chair of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Principals’ Center.

Residing in Bolingbrook with his wife Angela, Dr. Wood and his family were honored as the Bolingbrook Family of the Year. Actively engaged in the community, he is a dedicated member of the Bolingbrook Lions Club, holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation, and has previously served as a Board Member of Heart Haven Outreach.

“I eagerly anticipate embracing this new role and the associated challenges as we strive to deliver exceptional educational opportunities for our students while meeting the expectations of the VVSD community,” expressed Dr. Wood. He assumes the responsibilities from the outgoing Superintendent Rachel Kinder, Ed.S, who recently announced her departure.

VVSD Board of Education President Steve Quigley expressed, “The VVSD Board is enthusiastic about collaborating with Dr. Wood to propel VVSD towards further progress. Dr. Wood’s familiarity with Valley View’s requirements and community anticipations is expected to facilitate a seamless transition.”
