### Showcasing UT’s Excellence and Influence in Recent Graduate School Rankings

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin remains a top choice for graduate studies, as indicated by U.S. News & World Report’s recent release of its “Best Graduate Schools” rankings. While some rankings, such as those for engineering, medicine, and clinical psychology, are still pending, UT has a history of securing top positions in these areas.

Despite the delayed release, UT has solidified its position in the top 10 for five colleges and schools: the College of Education (No. 8); the School of Information (No. 5); the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (No. 8); the College of Pharmacy (No. 6); and the Jackson School of Geosciences (No. 7) within the Earth Sciences category. Additionally, three specialties have claimed the top spot in the nation: Accounting, Latin American History, and Sociology of Population. In total, the University boasts 42 graduate schools and specialty programs ranked within the top 10 when considering previous years.

President Jay Hartzell emphasized the significance of these rankings, highlighting UT’s ability to attract exceptional faculty and students. He noted that UT’s expertise in fields like AI, robotics, life sciences, and population research positions the institution at the forefront of addressing global challenges and advancing society.

Key highlights from this year’s rankings include:

  • The College of Education’s impressive rise to No. 8 in the rankings.
  • The McCombs School of Business climbing four spots to No. 16 overall.
  • The Information Systems MBA program at McCombs securing the No. 4 spot for the 31st consecutive year. Accounting maintains its No. 1 ranking for the 18th year.
  • The College of Pharmacy and Computer Science moving up to No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
  • The Nursing master’s program ascending six places to No. 14.

U.S. News & World Report’s graduate rankings, known for their credibility, are based on surveys of academic leaders and various quantitative measures. These measures include placement test scores, student/faculty ratios, research expenditures, salary data, and job placement rates.

While some specialty rankings are updated annually, others are republished periodically. The rankings for engineering, medicine, and psychology will be disclosed at a later date by U.S. News.
