About the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

The NCAA offers a maximum of 126 postgraduate scholarships annually to student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics and athletics and are in their final year of intercollegiate competition.

These one-time scholarships of $10,000 are awarded three times a year corresponding to the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons. Each season, there are 21 scholarships available for men and 21 for women to pursue graduate studies in accredited programs.

Former student-athletes who have earned an undergraduate degree from an NCAA member school are eligible for nomination by their respective schools for an NCAA graduate degree scholarship, regardless of when they completed their undergraduate studies.

Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship aims to encourage graduate education by recognizing the Association’s most accomplished student-athletes who have participated in NCAA championship and/or emerging sports. The selection process considers athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service, volunteer activities, and leadership qualities, ensuring a fair evaluation for all nominees.
