### Validation of TOEFL Scores by Indian Study-Abroad Partners in US Universities

New Delhi, March 13 (PTI) Universities in the United States will now have the option to authenticate TOEFL test scores through their Indian study-abroad partners, as per the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

ETS, headquartered in Princeton and known for administering exams such as TOEFL and GRE, has forged a partnership with Career Mosaic, a prominent student recruiter for US universities in South Asia, to facilitate score verification.

Per concerned officials, US universities will now be able to access validated scores, thereby significantly boosting the credibility of student profiles shared with them. This initiative aims to alleviate the administrative burden on US universities, ensuring a more streamlined and efficient student enrollment process.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test designed to assess the English language proficiency of non-native speakers seeking admission to English-speaking universities.

Recognized by over 12,000 institutions across more than 160 countries, the TOEFL test is widely accepted in popular study destinations like the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and by over 98% of universities in the United Kingdom.

Sachin Jain, the country manager for ETS India and South Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Career Mosaic to verify TOEFL scores for applicants to US universities. This partnership underscores the shared commitment of both organizations to offer universities dependable and effective solutions for evaluating the English language skills of potential students.

In a bid to enhance the test-taking experience, ETS introduced several changes to the 60-year-old TOEFL test last year. These changes included shortening the test duration to less than two hours (from the previous three hours) and enabling candidates to view their official score release date upon completing the test.

Manisha Zaveri, the Joint Managing Director at Career Mosaic, highlighted the significance of the TOEFL score verification services provided by ETS through Career Mosaic in India. This collaboration is poised to strengthen the integrity of TOEFL test scores, benefiting both universities and the increasing number of Indian students pursuing higher education opportunities in the USA.

Blerina Polovina, the Director of International Admissions and Business Development at Webster University USA, welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the validation of TOEFL scores will streamline the admission process for universities, expediting student enrollment.

The validation of scores will spare universities the effort of verifying English proficiency scores, ultimately facilitating a smoother and more dependable admissions process for students and universities alike, Polovina added. PTI GJS IJT
