Fourteen graduate programs at Arizona State University have secured positions in the top 10 nationwide, as per the 2024 rankings by U.S. News & World Report released today.
A total of 32 programs have achieved rankings in the top 20. Notably, the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation has surged 30 spots to claim the 26th position, surpassing Yale, UCLA, and the University of California, San Francisco.
The Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions has maintained a strong presence in the rankings, with seven graduate programs in the top 10. This includes the master’s degree program in homeland security ranked at No. 2 in the country, outperforming the University of Southern California, George Washington University, and Columbia University.
Nancy Gonzales, ASU’s executive vice president and university provost, expressed pride in the positive outcomes of this year’s U.S. News & World Report’s graduate program rankings. Gonzales attributed this success to the exceptional faculty and academic leaders at ASU, highlighting the university’s diverse range of disciplines.
ASU has consistently performed well in various U.S. News & World Report higher education rankings, having been recognized as the most innovative university in the country last September. The university also received accolades in February for multiple online degree programs ranking in the top 10.
In the latest rankings, in addition to homeland security, 13 other graduate programs secured positions in the top 10:
- Local government management and information and technology management in the School of Public Affairs in Watts College ranked at No. 3.
- MBA in supply chain management in the W. P. Carey School of Business ranked at No. 3.
- Public management and leadership in the School of Public Affairs in Watts College ranked at No. 5.
- Nonprofit management in the School of Public Affairs ranked at No. 5.
- Legal writing in the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law ranked at No. 5.
- Doctor of Nursing Practice in gerontology in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation tied for No. 6.
- MBA in information systems in the W. P. Carey School of Business ranked at No. 6.
- MBA in international business in the W. P. Carey School of Business ranked at No. 8.
- MBA in project management in the W. P. Carey School of Business ranked at No. 9.
- Elementary teacher education in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College ranked at No. 9.
- Urban policy in the School of Public Affairs in Watts College ranked at No. 9.
- Environmental policy and management in the School of Public Affairs in Watts College ranked at No. 10.
The 2024 Best Engineering Schools and Best Clinical Psychology Programs rankings will be released at a later date.
Overall, ASU has 32 graduate programs ranked in the top 20 nationwide, with 11 programs in the top 10. Apart from the seven top-10 programs mentioned earlier, others include public affairs (overall), public finance, public policy analysis, and social work.
ASU’s School of Public Affairs has shown significant influence, with seven specialty areas in the top 10 and two more in the top 20. This achievement positions ASU’s School of Public Affairs as one of the most recognized in public policy, administration, and governance.
Additionally, ASU has excelled in various fields, with top-20 programs in production and operations, business analytics, real estate MBA, accounting, executive MBA, and management. The university also boasts strong programs in graduate education, including elementary and secondary teacher education, curriculum and instruction, higher education administration, and special education.
Noteworthy programs in the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law include legal writing, dispute resolution, health care law, and environmental law.
The rankings by U.S. News & World Report are based on expert opinions regarding program excellence and statistical indicators related to faculty, research, and students. ASU’s individual graduate degree programs have also been recognized, with several programs ranking in the top 50, such as speech-language pathology, entrepreneurship, and criminal law.
