US News 2024: Which are Huntsville’s best high schools?

Several Huntsville area high schools are considered to be the top public high schools in Alabama.

Madison County High and Winfield High are among the top 25 high schools in Alabama for this year’s .

Madison County High dramatically increased its ranking, and New Century Tech Demo High, a magnet school, is again considered among the top schools in Alabama.

U.S. News analyzed student test scores in for math, reading and science, graduation rates and college readiness for underserved students. Of course, , and many things that influence a local school’s performance, like funding, are outside of the school’s control.

In addition to overall rankings, U.S. News ranked top STEM, charter and magnet schools nationwide.

Huntsville’s New Century Technology High School is ranked 60th among magnet programs nationwide. Last year, New Century was ranked 80th.
