The University of Birmingham has introduced a range of scholarships exceeding £1 million. Applications are now open for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Founded by Queen Victoria in 1900 as the first civic university in Great Britain and consistently ranked among the top 100 universities globally, the University of Birmingham is providing scholarships worth over £1 million to Indian students for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships, available for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, are divided into merit-based and automatic awards across various academic disciplines such as Business, Computer Science, Arts & Law, Environmental & Physical Sciences, Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences.

Among the scholarships recently announced by the university, there are 20 Outstanding Achievement Scholarships for undergraduate students valued at £4,000 each, 15 India Chancellor Scholarships for postgraduate students valued at £2,000 each, and an unlimited number of automatic scholarships worth £2,000 each under the Global Masters Scholarships program.

Here are 7 scholarships available for Indian students enrolling at the University of Birmingham for the 2024-25 academic session.

DeepMind Scholarship (3 x £52,565 each): The University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science is offering three international scholarships worth £52,565 each for Postgraduate taught masters programs. The scholarship covers:

• International tuition fees: £27,540

• A maintenance grant of £19,345 (for living expenses), disbursed in installments throughout the course duration

• Up to £2,200 for attending an international conference in AI and/or Machine Learning during the program, along with £1,700 for essential equipment purchase (e.g., laptop)

• £1,870 for relocation assistance.

UG Outstanding Achievement Scholarships (20 awards x £4,000 each):

A £4,000 award for eligible Indian students applying for undergraduate programs at the University commencing in September 2024.

Subject areas: Arts and Law, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Life and Environmental Sciences, Nursing and Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Social Sciences. Exclusions apply for MBChB Medicine and Surgery or BDS Dental Surgery applicants.

Deadline: April 30, 2024.

PG: India Chancellor Scholarship (15 awards x £2,000 each): The India Chancellor’s scholarship comprises 15 awards of £4,000 each for qualified Indian students applying for postgraduate programs at the University starting in September 2024. Certain programs such as MPhil, MRes, MMus, MLit, PGDip, and PGCert are not eligible.

Subject areas: Arts and Law, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Life and Environmental Sciences, Medical and Dental Sciences, Social Sciences.

Deadline: May 31, 2024.

Global Masters Scholarships (Automatic, £2,000 each): This scholarship is open to all international students from selected countries pursuing a taught Masters degree in the 2024-25 academic year.

Deadline: May 31, 2024.

GREAT Scholarships 2024 (£10,000 award): In collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, this scholarship is available to Indian students applying for postgraduate programs in the College of Arts and Law (excluding Law LLM and MSc).

Deadline: April 5, 2024

The GEES Global Futures Scholarship (India)(£2,000 each): This scholarship offers a £2,000 tuition fee reduction for Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate taught masters (PGT) programs within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. For undergraduate students, the discount is applicable for the first year only. Indian students have the opportunity to pursue programs in Geography, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Urban and Regional Planning, and Public and Environmental Health.

Deadline: Early application is crucial for PGT programs due to limited scholarship availability. For UG programs, the fee reduction is applied upon enrollment.

Million Pound Scholarship Fund for Business School Master’s Students: Birmingham Business School is providing a range of scholarships for new MSc students joining in 2024. These awards are accessible to both UK and International offer holders, with funding support extending up to full tuition fees.

Deadline: Applications submitted by January 15, 2024 – Decision by February 29, 2024.

Applications submitted by March 15, 2024 – Decision by April 30, 2024. Applications submitted by May 15, 2024 – Decision by June 28, 2024.
