### Top 20% Ranking: UNI Excels in Online Master’s in Education Programs

CEDAR FALLS — The University of Northern Iowa’s master’s in education programs offered online have been recognized among the top 20% nationally, as per the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs. UNI’s programs are tied at number 63 out of 303 schools included in the rankings.

Colleen Mulholland, the dean of the College of Education at UNI, highlighted the institution’s extensive experience in online education, predating the recent surge in distance learning initiatives. With 10 out of 17 programs featured in the U.S. News and World Report submission, the College of Education continues to evolve its curriculum to cater to adult learners, facilitating professional growth while accommodating work and home life demands.

The assessment by U.S. News evaluated schools based on various objective criteria such as student engagement, faculty qualifications, and available services and technologies. This year, the evaluation encompassed over 1,800 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. U.S. News has been issuing rankings for online degree programs for the past decade.

Steph Huffman, the associate vice president for strategic initiatives and dean of the College of Graduate, Research and Online Education at UNI, expressed pride in the institution’s dedication to supporting adult learners effectively. With UNI faculty leading the educational programs, the university excels in delivering sought-after online courses tailored to meet the needs of busy professionals. The acknowledgment received reflects the high caliber of programs offered at UNI.

For more than 40 degree, certificate, and endorsement programs under the Division of Online Education & Individual Studies within UNI’s College of Graduate, Research and Online Education, the emphasis remains on providing fully online or hybrid programs with limited in-person requirements.
