The College of Law at the University of Iowa has been ranked as the 35th best law school in the nation for placing graduates in positions at the top 100 law firms in the United States.
In the most recent assessment, the University of Iowa has advanced by ten positions in the rankings.
This ranking, unveiled in March, was based on data reported to the American Bar Association, highlighting the University of Iowa as the second-highest-ranking law school in the Big Ten conference, trailing behind Northwestern University, which secured the top position nationwide.
Melissa Norman, the Director of Career and Student Services at the University of Iowa, emphasized that the institution has consistently performed well compared to other Big Ten schools.
Norman praised the exceptional caliber of students at the University of Iowa, noting their diligence, intelligence, and perseverance in pursuit of academic and professional success.
According to alumni of the College of Law at the University of Iowa, the favorable outcomes are a result of concerted efforts by both faculty members and students to ensure that graduates secure positions in the top 100 law firms across the country.
Marcus Weymiller, a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, credited the resources available to him during his time at the university for preparing him for his current role at the esteemed law firm Faegre Drinker, recognized as one of the top 100 firms by Vault Law. He also highlighted his clerkships at the Iowa Supreme Court and the Eighth District U.S. Court of Appeals.
Norman underscored the comprehensive support provided by her team to guide students towards successful careers, including assistance with resume writing, cover letters, job searches, mock interviews, Bar exam preparations, and networking opportunities with alumni.
Weymiller emphasized that the University of Iowa’s legal education focuses on developing fundamental skills crucial for a legal career, such as writing and problem-solving abilities.
Zachary Schroeder, another alum of the UI College of Law, currently serving as an associate at Snell and Wilmer, a firm recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report, collaborates with current students interested in joining his firm, reflecting the strong network of support and mentorship within the University of Iowa’s legal community.
