Warrenesha Arnold, the brainchild of Warrenesha Arnold, is a skincare label founded in 2020 with a focus on promoting natural, organic, and plant-based skincare items designed to heal and nourish the skin. In 2023, Arnold ventured into her second venture, Nyarai Nutrition.
Like many entrepreneurs, Arnold’s entrepreneurial journey was inspired by personal struggles. Reflecting on her motivation, Arnold shared, “The inception of Nyarai Skincare was fueled by the insecurities I battled during my formative years due to skin inflammation.”
Raised in one of Arkansas’s most underprivileged counties, Arnold faced challenges accessing quality nutrition and skincare products, leading to issues like acne, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots. The absence of local dermatological services and Black-owned skincare options exacerbated her struggles, impacting her confidence and self-esteem as she transitioned into adulthood.
Amidst the backdrop of the COVID pandemic, Arnold kickstarted her brand while residing in her hometown. Concurrently pursuing a degree in human nutrition and dietetics at the U of A, she expanded Nyarai’s e-commerce presence and engaged with the local community through promotional events.
Identifying a gap in the availability of natural and organic skincare products for people of color in Northwest Arkansas, Arnold positioned Nyarai Skincare as a solution provider.
Now in its fourth year, Nyarai Skincare continues to thrive, thanks to the unwavering support Arnold has garnered. Collaborating with ASBTDC business consultant Lori Lieblong proved pivotal in Arnold’s journey. Recalling their partnership, Arnold shared, “One of the most memorable experiences was working together on grant applications with Lori, who consistently made time for our collaborative efforts.”
Arnold credits ASBTDC for playing a pivotal role in her startup’s success.
“Their assistance ranged from crafting a robust business plan and conducting competitor analyses to refining product development strategies,” Arnold explained. “I heavily relied on ASBTDC’s expertise in financial management, marketing tactics, and navigating the intricacies of grant applications.”
Market research provided by the center facilitated strategic pricing decisions and enhanced the competitiveness of Nyarai products in the market.
Reflecting on the impact of ASBTDC, Arnold expressed, “Their unwavering support has been transformative for my business, propelling its growth and development. Lori’s steadfast belief in Nyarai Skincare and her proactive encouragement have been invaluable on this entrepreneurial voyage.”
