### U.S. News Ranking Shows Surge in Law, Education, Business, and Nursing Schools

UVA’s Darden School of Business, in a tie with Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business, has ascended four spots to No. 10 overall. Among public schools, Darden ranks second, following the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, positioned at No. 7 overall in a three-way tie.

Exceptional Ratings for Specialized Programs

Specialized programs within UVA’s School of Nursing have also garnered significant acclaim.

The Master of Science in Nursing program at the school is recognized as the 11th top public program and holds the 18th spot overall. Similarly, the Doctor of Nursing Practice program is ranked as the 22nd best public program.

Outstanding Public Education Institution

In a recent specialized subranking focusing on “Best Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Programs,” the school shares the 7th position in the nation in a six-way tie.

All nine distinct programs within UVA’s School of Education and Human Development that were considered in the rankings have secured positions in the top 20, with many programs improving their rankings compared to the previous year:

  • Curriculum and Instruction (No. 18)
  • Educational Administration (No. 7)
  • Education Policy (No. 11)
  • Education Psychology (No. 17)
  • Elementary Teacher Education (No. 10)
  • Higher Education (No. 18)
  • Secondary Teacher Education (No. 5)
  • Special Education (No. 4)
  • Student Counseling (No. 13)

UVA’s School of Law, along with several others, has opted to discontinue providing data to U.S. News starting from the 2023 graduate school ranking cycle due to concerns raised by deans regarding the accuracy and representativeness of the outlet’s categorizations.

U.S. News disclosed that it had surveyed nearly 200 law schools accredited by the American Bar Association and received responses from 144 institutions.

According to U.S. News, “All statistical data utilized to determine the overall rankings encompassed students and faculty across any full-time and part-time J.D. programs.”

On Monday afternoon, U.S. News announced that it is currently assessing inquiries from various graduate schools, including queries related to the consideration of affiliated institutions in the bibliometric data used for the 2024 Best Medical Schools and 2024 Best Engineering Schools rankings, as well as the accrediting body referenced for the 2024 Best Clinical Psychology Programs rankings.

In light of these ongoing evaluations, the publication of the 2024 Best Medical Schools, Best Engineering Schools, and Best Clinical Psychology Program rankings has been postponed until the concerns raised are adequately addressed.
