### Regent University’s Law Graduate Program Achieves Prestigious AFCPE Designation

January 22, 2024

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Jan. 22, 2024) – The Master of Arts in Financial Planning and Law (MAFPL) program at Regent University School of Law has achieved the distinction of being recognized as an AFCPE Registered Education Program, a title held by only 15 graduate programs nationwide.

The Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education (AFCPE) is a reputable organization comprising certified professional financial planners dedicated to upholding the highest standards of knowledge, skill, and integrity in the field. By certifying, connecting, and supporting professionals who make a positive impact on the financial well-being of communities globally, AFCPE ensures a standard of excellence.

Dean Brad Lingo of Regent University School of Law expressed great satisfaction with this prestigious acknowledgment, emphasizing the program’s comprehensive and innovative coursework and instruction. Graduates of the MAFPL program are equipped to assist government agencies, non-profit organizations, and individuals in achieving financial wellness.

Paul Allen, the Director of MAFPL at Regent, has taken on a voluntary role in the AFCPE Student Task Force. The primary objectives of this task force include enhancing student involvement in AFCPE and granting scholarships to deserving individuals. Students meeting the educational requirements for the AFC® coursework through the MAFPL program may receive a 50% discount when taking the AFC® exam. Furthermore, Regent MAFPL students can engage in the AFCPE Knowledge Bowl.

Given that AFC® Financial Counselors are sought after by military bases and governmental entities to provide financial guidance to military personnel, obtaining the AFC® Counselor certification presents a valuable opportunity for local students.

Moreover, this collaboration opens up new career pathways for MAFPL students who prefer not to pursue the CFP exam but still aspire to contribute to their community by fostering sustainable financial stability among clients.
