Description of the Position
This position is available for the Fall semester of 2023-2024. Ideal candidates should possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. There are various Environmental Health and Safety topics with potential teaching prospects. The typical teaching load comprises up to 12 credit hours per academic semester across the Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain campuses, subject to variations based on involvement in other academic pursuits.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering undergraduate courses within the Environmental Health and Safety program tailored to a diverse student body encompassing individuals of various ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, and academic readiness
- Mentoring students in their academic progression and accomplishments, practical application experience, and holistic learning encounters
- Overseeing the projects of graduating students and offering guidance
- Contributing to curriculum enhancement, program evaluation, program accreditation, initiation of new programs, community engagement, and engagement with professional organizations through service
- Sustaining a scholarly record through independent and/or collaborative research, securing external funding, and publication
- Fulfilling other responsibilities as per departmental requirements and priorities
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
- Proficiency in delivering high-quality instruction within a student-centric setting to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere that supports students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds
- Competence in utilizing the Blackboard learning management system (preferred), Microsoft Teams, and instructional technology
Qualifications
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Doctoral degree from an internationally recognized university in Environmental Health and Safety
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience in Environmental Health and Safety at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Demonstrate experience in advising and guiding senior undergraduate students
- Articulate a research agenda and exhibit expertise in advanced analytical methodologies within the research domains of Environmental Health and Safety
- Exhibit interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
- Showcase research potential and achievements evidenced by a track record of peer-reviewed publications, evaluated by their h-index (10 for Assistant Professor, 15 for Associate Professor, and 25 for Professor)
- Demonstrate a history of acquiring research grants
Preferred Qualifications include:
- Priority will be given to candidates with qualifications to teach in multiple areas or programs
- Emphasis on attracting grant funding
