LSU’s target for 2025, Bella Hines, was unveiled in the afternoon, with her considering schools like Iowa, Baylor, Arizona, Florida State, Texas Tech, NC State, West Virginia, TCU, and Kansas State.

Ranked as the No. 31 prospect nationally, Hines hails from Eldorado High School in New Mexico and is scheduled for an official visit to LSU starting on March 22. LSU has been actively pursuing her, attending her games and now hosting her on campus.

Known for her scoring prowess, Hines has showcased her talent by scoring over 40 points multiple times during her junior season, even in playoff games. Standing at 5-foot-9, she is a versatile shooter that LSU’s coaching staff believes can bolster their already formidable offense.

In her junior year, Hines maintained impressive averages of 33 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Her sophomore season saw her averaging 30 points, while she managed 23 points per game as a freshman. This season, she surpassed Eldorado’s all-time scoring record and earned a spot on the 1st-team All-District. Notably, she is the sole player from New Mexico ranked in ESPN’s top 60 HoopGurlz list and shares the AAU court with Aaliyah Chavez, the nation’s top player for 2025, who is also being pursued by LSU.

LSU’s 2024 recruitment class is currently light, with only Jada Richard from Lafayette committed. However, the potential in the 2025 class that LSU is actively engaging with hints at promising outcomes as the recruitment efforts intensify.

Regarding the competitive landscape in recruiting, Coach Mulkey emphasized the unpredictability of recruits’ decisions and the varied factors influencing their choices. She expressed a desire for LSU to have a genuine chance with recruits, prioritizing thorough evaluation over relying solely on rankings. As LSU’s women’s basketball program evolves, the focus remains on targeted recruitment strategies and fostering a competitive edge in securing top talent.
