North Alabama high schools featured in latest U.S. News top school rankings.


Several schools in North Alabama have secured rankings in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of Best Alabama High Schools

New Century Technology High School in Huntsville was the 2nd-ranked in the state. James Clemens High School in Madison City secures the 6th position. Bob Jones High School, also in Madison City, earns the 12th spot in Alabama. Arab High School, Hartselle High School, and Huntsville High School also secured a position among the state’s top 15 schools in the state.

Schools are evaluated based on various factors, including student test scores in math, reading, and science, as well as criteria such as underserved student performance, college readiness, curriculum breadth, and graduation rates. Additionally, schools are assessed on their performance in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs, measuring both participation and success rates.
