### Top 10 Preseason Rankings for Maryland Private Schools: Teams 6-10

As March unfolds, public schools have initiated baseball tryouts, while certain private schools have already commenced their seasons through scrimmages and practices. Maryland Private schools will be featured in the weekly Maryland Private Top 10 rankings, whereas only Public schools will be assessed in the traditional Maryland Power 25. Updates to these rankings will be shared every Monday during the season.

In this initial update, our team focuses on the Preseason 6-10 rankings for Maryland Private Schools, accompanied by brief insights for each. Check back tomorrow for the unveiling of teams 1-5.

No. 6 DeMatha Catholic

DeMatha Catholic kicks off 2024 with a strong roster boasting depth and promising talent on both ends of the field, setting the stage for a successful run in the competitive WCAC conference. Led by seasoned seniors such as Tommy Dietrich, John DiMarsico, Manny Hall, Wesley Hall, and Niko Long, along with standout junior offensive players Johnathan Coombs and Brooks Franklin, the Stags are poised to advance to new heights this season.

No. 7 Good Counsel

With the onset of a new spring season comes fresh leadership opportunities for most programs, including the Falcons in 2024. Senior pitcher Jake Plainte is set to assume the ace role on the mound, supported by fellow seniors Ethan Bell, Alex Bergen, and Brandon Davis. Watch out for lefty shortstop Jackson Inman to lead the offense with his smooth swing and anticipated breakout performance under coach Ballance. The Falcons’ blend of talent, depth, and experience positions them for a deep playoff run in the WCAC.

No. 8 Loyola Blakefield

Moving to the MIAA A Conference at No. 8, Loyola Blakefield’s Dons present an intriguing lineup for the upcoming season. Keep an eye on junior pitcher Joe Nottingham, expected to showcase his dominance on the mound and solidify his status as one of the state’s top high school arms. The team’s lineup features power hitters like senior Jacob Hauk and junior Michael DelGaudio, indicating a strong offensive presence for the season.

No. 9 Landon

Despite the challenge of filling the void left by standout Nate Rosner, the Bears return a host of talented players on both offense and defense under new head coach Henry Martinez. The team boasts a formidable pitching duo in senior James Pedas and junior Sam Rosand. Offensive firepower is evident with senior Jay Adams and junior George Lee, supported by a promising group of sophomores poised for breakout performances.

No. 10 Archbishop Curley

Entering 2024, the Friars showcase a wealth of senior leadership on both ends of the field, aiming to leverage their experience for success in the competitive MIAA A Conference. Pitching strength lies in seniors Anthony Cerone, Hunter Layhew, Carson Eddy, Austn Sealing, and junior Nathaniel Welkos. While the team faces the departure of key hitters, expect seniors Layhew, Sealing, Derek Poole, and Ryan Parks to deliver strong offensive performances for the Friars.
