On January 31, in Islamabad, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindh, emphasized the importance of implementing structural changes to guarantee quality education based on merit. He highlighted the necessity of upgrading the current government school system to foster sustainable economic development.
In an interview with PTV news channel, he underscored the urgency of overhauling the education system to equip students to tackle the challenges of the new century while preserving Pakistani values and culture.
The minister stressed that the caretaker government had made significant efforts in a short period to prioritize educational reforms. He urged political parties to prioritize education reform in their election agendas, focusing on ensuring quality education in government schools that is accessible to all.
He emphasized the importance of policymakers and the incoming government ensuring that every child has access to comprehensive and high-quality education in government schools. Collaboration between the government, academia, and industry is essential to enforce stringent academic standards and develop necessary infrastructure.
Expressing concern about social and gender discrimination, the minister called for a shift in societal mindset. He mentioned that the caretaker government had taken steps to enhance the government education system, including conducting meetings with provincial ministers to enroll out-of-school children.
Efforts were made to establish a uniform and quality education system nationwide, along with enhancing the skills of public sector teachers to modernize the educational framework. The minister highlighted the need for improving the conditions of government schools and acknowledged the significance of private schools in the educational landscape.
He emphasized the equal standardization of public and private schools throughout the country to ensure a balanced and high-quality educational environment.
