**Kwanthanze Emerges Top in SOYA Schools Category**

Kwanthanze Girls and Koyonzo Boys emerged victorious in the SOYA Girls and Boys School Team of the Year Awards ceremony held on Friday night at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

These two schools were recognized for their outstanding performance in the national inter-school championships that took place in August in Kakamega County. Kwanthanze Secondary School showcased resilience by securing their fifth consecutive regional title in August, triumphing over Kesogon Secondary School in a thrilling final match with a score of 3-2 sets to retain their East Africa volleyball girl’s crown.

Despite facing a tough challenge from Kesogon, who managed to win a set, Kwanthanze maintained their dominance, having cruised to the national finals without dropping a single set. On the other hand, Koyonzo Boys had a remarkable year, clinching both the national and East African titles. Under the leadership of Eliud Okwemba, the team successfully defended their national title by defeating Vihiga High School and later secured their maiden East African title with a convincing victory over the same opponents.

Additionally, Isaac Muresia, the Namwela Boys’ volleyball coach, was honored with the SOYA School Coach of the Year Award for guiding his team to their first-ever East Africa volleyball title. Namwela Boys demonstrated their prowess by overcoming the odds and emerging victorious against Namugongo Vocational School from Uganda to claim the regional title, despite facing setbacks in the national competition where they finished third behind Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School and Andersen Secondary School.
