Jericho High School proudly holds the title of Long Island’s premier public high school, once again marking its spot among the top echelons of the national rankings. This year, 19 other local schools joined Jericho in the prestigious list of the top 1,000 high schools across the United States, showcasing the region’s commitment to educational excellence.

In the 2024 rankings, Jericho High achieved an impressive position at 114th out of nearly 18,000 evaluated U.S. public high schools. Following closely are Garden City High School at 176th and Manhasset Secondary School at 177th, with Great Neck South and Syosset High rounding out the top five on Long Island at 206th and 259th respectively. Notably, 16 out of the 20 ranked schools are based in Nassau County, reflecting its strong educational performance.

This year also saw two Long Island schools climb into the top 1,000—South Side High School in Rockville Centre and Locust Valley High School. Meanwhile, New York State itself was ranked ninth nationally, with over a third of its schools in the top quartile of the U.S. News rankings.
