### Scholarship for Studying Abroad in Athens through the Greek America Foundation Sponsored by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

Scholarship Details

We provide Semester in Athens Scholarships with rolling admission for students interested in studying abroad at the Hellenic American University, an institution accredited in the US with campuses in Nashua, New Hampshire, and Athens, Greece. The Athens campus is situated in the lively Kolonaki neighborhood. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the university allows credit transfers to most North American schools. It is important to note that students and their academic advisors are responsible for managing all credit transfers.

Academic Calendar

Hellenic American University offers two full-semester terms from September to December and January to May, along with two shorter summer terms in June and July. The Semester in Athens Scholarship is available for any of these terms. Applicants should review the university’s term schedule and select their preferred term for attendance.

Kindly Note: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed as soon as they are received. To ensure timely processing, all application materials must be submitted at least three months before the start of the chosen semester/term.

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship covers a full semester of tuition for studying abroad in Athens, Greece, equivalent to up to 15 credits or approximately $4000. Recipients are required to enroll in two courses related to Greek culture, history, or language as part of the scholarship. While the scholarship covers tuition fees, students are responsible for their own accommodation and meals during their stay in Greece.

The primary aim of the scholarship is to facilitate personal growth and cultural understanding through a study abroad experience in Greece, fostering cross-cultural exchange between Greek and American societies. While Greek heritage is not a prerequisite, applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in exploring contemporary Greek culture and history.
