Join us for an open lecture featuring Dr. Ee-Seul Yoon, an esteemed Associate Professor of Educational Administration, Leadership, and Policy at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.

Dr. Yoon will delve into the Global Education Reform Movement (GERM) and its association with neoliberalism. She will shed light on the detrimental impact of neoliberal ideology on the public education sector.


Dr. Ee-Seul Yoon is a renowned academic known for her interdisciplinary scholarship encompassing sociology, geography, and critical policy/leadership studies. Her research focuses on analyzing the effects of marketization and privatization on equity, diversity, decolonization, and inclusion within Canadian education systems. Notably, her doctoral dissertation was honored with the AERA Social Context of Education Division’s Distinguished Dissertation Award. Dr. Yoon’s post-doctoral research, funded by SSHRC, pioneered a novel mixed-methods geospatial approach to studying school choice inequities. Recognized with the Terry G. Falconer Memorial Rh Institute Foundation Emerging Researcher Award in 2021, Dr. Yoon is currently engaged in two SSHRC-funded projects investigating the various inequities experienced by disadvantaged learners in settler-colonial societies amidst the era of neoliberalism.
