With the commencement of spring ball on the horizon, head coach Steve Sarkisian is actively engaged in recruiting efforts, coordinating visits for the upcoming months. The spring visit season will witness recruits from the 2025 and 2026 classes visiting the Forty Acres between mid-March and late April.
One standout out-of-state wide receiver from the 2026 cycle who may visit Austin this spring is the highly regarded high-four-star prospect, Jabari Mack from Destrehan (LA). Ranked as the top wide receiver recruit in Louisiana for the 2026 class by both the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, Mack has been a primary target for the Longhorns early in this recruiting cycle.
Last summer, Texas was swift in extending an offer to Mack, with the offer coinciding with his attendance at the Texas Elite Camp in June.
Since receiving the offer from Texas, Mack has been nurturing his relationships with the Longhorns’ coaching staff. Particularly, he maintains regular communication with Texas cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph, who boasts strong ties in Louisiana.
Recently, Joseph paid a visit to Mack at Destrehan, indicating a growing interest from both sides. Mack expressed his intention to visit both Austin to see the Longhorns and Eugene to witness the Oregon Ducks during the spring, following his participation in the Battle 7v7 New Orleans event last weekend.
While concrete plans for visits to Texas and Oregon are yet to be finalized for this spring, these two schools remain his primary destinations.
During the Battle 7v7 New Orleans tournament, Mack disclosed to 247Sports that Texas, Oregon, and the LSU Tigers are his top choices heading into the spring, with a prior unofficial visit to LSU earlier in the offseason.
Texas has been actively involved in Mack’s recruitment from the outset, with Sarkisian and Joseph effectively positioning Texas as the frontrunner among Mack’s preferred schools this spring.
Mack’s impressive performance at the recent Battle 7v7 New Orleans event showcased his skills as a dynamic and versatile wide receiver. His ability to run precise routes, secure contested catches, and excel in various offensive positions makes him a coveted asset for any team, fitting seamlessly into Sarkisian’s offensive scheme.
