One of the Fighting Irish’s key remaining targets on the defensive line in the 2025 recruitment cycle has narrowed down his choices. This past Monday, three-star defensive lineman disclosed a list of preferred schools, including Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, and Ohio State.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 260 pounds, Campbell, hailing from Frankfort (Ky.) Western Hills, has garnered a total of 19 offers. Among the schools that extended offers to him are Cincinnati, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia. However, these programs did not make the cut for his top schools.
Based on the On3 Industry Ranking, which utilizes a proprietary algorithm amalgamating ratings and rankings from the primary recruiting media services, Campbell is ranked as the No. 405 overall player, the 34th defensive lineman nationally, and the third-best prospect in Kentucky.
In comparison, On3’s rankings position Campbell as the 26th best defensive lineman in the country.
The unveiling of Campbell’s top school list precedes a crucial week of unofficial visits. He is set to visit Notre Dame, Kentucky, and Ohio State. Campbell expressed that his initial visit to South Bend left a lasting impression due to its personalized nature.
Describing the experience, Campbell mentioned, “It was just really personal. It was just me, my family, coaches, and my girlfriend going around the campus. They gave us a private tour of what Notre Dame has to offer.”
On January 25, Notre Dame’s defensive line coach extended an offer to Campbell, making the Irish the third school to offer him a scholarship at that time.
Despite having only one year of high school football under his belt, Campbell showcased his talent by registering 14.5 sacks in 7.5 games during his debut season and earned the title of first-team All-District.
Among his preferred schools, Campbell has announced official visits to Georgia (June 21-24) and Ohio State (May 31-June 2). Prior to this week’s unofficial visits, Campbell had already toured Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky. He has also visited Michigan and Tennessee, although neither school has offered him a scholarship.
In the 2025 class, Notre Dame has commitments from three defensive linemen: , and . Burgess from Chicago Simeon is expected to play as an EDGE rusher, while Reiff from Elmhurst (Ill.) York Community and Dixon from Miami Palmetto are evaluated by On3 as defensive linemen.
Burgess and Reiff are rated as four-star prospects, securing the 13th spot for EDGE and the 25th spot for defensive lineman, respectively, in the On3 Industry Ranking. Dixon, a three-star recruit, is positioned as the 52nd DL in the class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Campbell is projected to play as an interior DL.
