### Establishment of IB Department at APSCERT Office

The Department of International Baccalaureate (IB) was established by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Educational Research and Training (APSCERT) on the fourth floor of its office following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Switzerland-based IB. Praveen Prakash, the Principal Secretary of School Education, inaugurated the new wing of SCERT, while S. Suresh Kumar, the Commissioner, formally opened the curriculum, assessment, planning, training, and other sections of the new branch.

Subsequently, the IB delegation, led by Anton Beguin, the Chief Education Officer and Director of Education Innovation, engaged in interactive sessions with the heads of various departments within the school education wing. This delegation also participated in a three-day workshop focusing on the significant reforms implemented by the government in the school education sector.

The conference was attended by Sourav Gaur, the Commissioner of the Board of Intermediate Education, Srinivasa Rao, the State Project Officer of Samagra Shiksha, Shobhika, the Director of Mid-Day-Meal, and other officials.

The State’s strategy involves introducing the IB syllabus to Class 1 students starting from the academic year 2025-26. Subsequently, as these students progress to higher classes, they will continue to learn the updated curriculum, with the goal of integrating IB into all classes in government schools by 2035. The long-term plan aims to implement the IB syllabus for Class 12 students by the year 2037.
