### April 9 Top 10 High School Baseball Rankings by Daily Breeze

Several high school baseball teams from the South Bay region participated in spring break tournaments last week, but they are now gearing up to resume league games this week.

Highlighted matchups for this week include West facing El Segundo, Mira Costa taking on Palos Verdes, and Torrance competing against North.

1. WEST TORRANCE (Record: 14-6)

West Torrance had a competitive showing in the Santa Ana Elks Tournament, finishing 2-1 with all games decided by a single run. This included a close 11-inning match resulting in a 4-3 loss to Paraclete. The Warriors will be back in action for Pioneer League games, playing at home against El Segundo on Wednesday and away at El Segundo on Thursday.

2. MIRA COSTA (Record: 13-8-1)

Mira Costa secured back-to-back shutout victories against Desert Oasis (10-0) and West Ranch (1-0) in the National Classic, ending the week with a 2-1 record. The Mustangs are set to clash with Palos Verdes in a significant Bay League series, starting at home on Wednesday and then moving to PV on Friday.

3. TORRANCE (Record: 12-6-1)

After breaking a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 triumph over Woodbridge in the Ryan Lemmon Tournament, Torrance is ready to face North on Wednesday and host the Saxons on Friday.

4. EL SEGUNDO (Record: 14-5)

Following a Pioneer League victory against Torrance, El Segundo dominated the Century Elks Tournament with three consecutive wins, averaging 11 runs per game. The Eagles will be visiting West on Wednesday and hosting the Warriors on Thursday.

5. PALOS VERDES (Record: 13-9)

Palos Verdes had a tough week with losses to Arlington (4-2) and Los Alamitos (8-5) in nonleague matchups. The team is scheduled to play against Mira Costa on Wednesday and host the Mustangs on Friday in Bay League action.

6. SOUTH TORRANCE (Record: 13-8)

South Torrance had a successful run in the Nipomo Tournament, finishing with a 3-1 record, culminating in a 2-0 victory over Lakewood. This week, South Torrance will play a couple of nonleague games, including a match against Loyola on Friday.

7. REDONDO (Record: 9-10)

Redondo concluded the Bishop Gorman Invitational with wins against Reno (14-8) and Cottonwood (7-4), finishing the week at 2-2. The team is scheduled for a nonleague series against La Serna this week, playing away on Wednesday and hosting the match on Friday.

8. CARSON (Record: 10-7)

Carson faced a setback in a nonleague game against Santa Monica (7-3) but bounced back with victories over Hamilton (10-0) and Rancho Dominguez (15-3). Carson will resume Marine League play on Thursday at Rancho Dominguez and host Legacy in a San Fernando tournament game on Saturday.

9. BANNING (Record: 10-7)

Banning had a mixed week with a win against Serra (2-1) and a loss to Venice (2-0). The team kicked off Marine League play with an 8-0 victory over Gardena on Monday.

10. SAN PEDRO (Record: 8-10)

San Pedro started the week with a 5-4 win over Narbonne in Marine League action. The teams are set to face each other again on Thursday at Narbonne, and San Pedro will also play against Muir on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Also in consideration: Peninsula (Record: 8-12), St. Bernard (Record: 8-3), Bishop Montgomery (Record: 6-10), Serra (Record: 6-8).
