School of Architecture

College of Arts and Sciences | Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs

Discovery Program

To apply, you need to express your interest and select your preferred location on your application after choosing your desired academic program from the College of Arts and Sciences or Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. For the Fall 2024 semester Discovery Program applicants, it is necessary to be at least 18 years old by July 1, 2024, due to visa application prerequisites. Additionally, an extra short essay is mandatory for the Discovery Program application.

School of Education

There are no additional requirements for applicants.

College of Engineering and Computer Science

Recommended high school coursework includes:

  • Four years of college preparatory mathematics (including precalculus and/or calculus)
  • Laboratory science (physics is highly recommended, though not mandatory)
  • Please provide at least one academic recommendation from a STEM teacher

Discovery Program

To apply, you need to demonstrate your interest during the application process after selecting your desired academic program from the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Similar to other Discovery Programs, students applying for the Fall 2024 semester must be at least 18 years old by July 1, 2024, to meet visa application criteria. Moreover, an additional short essay is required for the Discovery Program application.

David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics

All transfer students interested in the social work program are required to attend an interview. For more details, please contact Falk College Admissions.

School of Information Studies

There are no additional requirements for applicants.

Martin J. Whitman School of Management

There are no additional requirements for applicants.

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications

There are no additional requirements for applicants.

College of Visual and Performing Arts

School of Art/School of Design/Department of Film and Media Arts

A portfolio submission is mandatory for all programs in the School of Art and Department of Film and Media Arts, as well as the B.F.A. and B.I.D. programs in the School of Design. However, a portfolio is not required for applicants to the B.S. in Design Studies or B.S. in Studio Arts. Once you have submitted your application, you will have the opportunity to upload your portfolio through your applicant portal. The link to submit your portfolio can be found in your application checklist.

Department of Drama

For those interested in the acting or musical theater program, a prescreen audition must be submitted. After submitting your application, you will gain access to your Applicant Portal within 72 hours. Prescreen auditions for acting and musical theater can be submitted online via the Applicant Portal. Successful prescreen candidates for musical theater and acting may proceed to final auditions, which can be conducted in person or submitted online through the Applicant Portal. Portfolios for all other programs in the Department of Drama can be submitted online via your Applicant Portal. Instructions for submitting your audition or portfolio should be reviewed carefully.

Please note that Early Decision is not an option for students applying to the acting or musical theater programs.

Setnor School of Music

Auditions can be conducted in person or submitted online through the Applicant Portal.

Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies

There are no additional requirements for applicants.
