AsiaConnect is pleased to provide two scholarships worth $300 each to support undergraduate students at ISU who are studying or researching Asian and Asian American culture, language, experiences, or participating in study abroad programs in Asian countries.
Scholarship Details
- Application Timeline:
- March 1, 2024: Call for AsiaConnect scholarship applications
- March 31, 2024: Deadline for scholarship applications
- Early May 2024: Announcement of the scholarship awards
Scholarship recipients will receive notification via Illinois State email within 30 days of selection.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students at Illinois State University.
- Applicants must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
- Applicants should demonstrate excellence and interest in studying Asian cultures or languages, active involvement in Asian Culture-related ISU RSOs or local communities, or plans to study abroad in Asian countries.
Application Requirements
To be considered for the AsiaConnect Scholarship, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria within the application period.
Expectations
Upon completion of the study or research, each scholarship recipient is expected to deliver a 10–15 minute presentation on their experiences at one of the monthly AsiaConnect board meetings, either in person or virtually.
Additional Information
- The scholarship amount will be credited to the awardees’ student accounts.
- Failure to meet the eligibility requirements at the time of the award announcement will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
- The award can cover various expenses such as travel costs, study abroad program fees, books, materials, registration fees for webinars, or professional development opportunities related to Asian cultures.
- In case of study abroad program cancellation, the award may be applied to the student’s ISU account balance.
- Reimbursement requires submission of receipts for verification.
