– USC Among Top Schools for Safety Trey McNutt in 2025

The Trojans have secured a coveted spot among the top schools for the 2025 five-star Composite Shaker Heights (Ohio) safety, who is recognized as the consensus No. 1 safety in the class. USC, along with Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia, Oregon, Florida, and Texas A&M, are in the running for his recruitment.

McNutt, standing at 6 feet and weighing 180 pounds, holds impressive rankings as the No. 26 overall prospect and the top safety according to 247Sports Composite. Additionally, he is positioned as the No. 23 overall prospect and the premier safety in the 247Sports rankings. McNutt’s on-field performance showcased his prowess with 61 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, 12 pass breakups, as well as 611 yards gained on offense with 12 touchdowns during the previous season.

Notably, USC has already secured a commitment from four-star Florida safety Hylton Stubbs, ranked as the No. 11 safety in the class. Building on their defensive lineup, USC has made strategic moves by signing two safety prospects in the 2024 cycle and adding two more through the transfer portal.

The USC football program’s 2025 class features a star-studded lineup including five-star Georgia QB Julian Lewis, five-star Georgia defensive tackle Justus Terry, four-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson, four-star California linebacker Matai Tagoa’i, Stubbs, three-star Texas defensive lineman Gus Cordova, three-star California cornerback Trestin Castro, three-star Virginia athlete Harry Dalton III, three-star Tennessee athlete Daune Morris, and three-star Texas running back Riley Wormley.
