### Apply Now for the Summer 2024 Session at Lees-McRae College’s New Opportunity School for Women

BANNER ELK, N.C.— Applications are now being accepted for the 20th annual summer session of the New Opportunity School for Women (NOSW) at Lees-McRae College. The session will take place from Sunday, June 2 to Saturday, June 22.

Established by Lees-McRae alumna Jane Baucom Stephenson (’57) in 1987, the program aims to enhance the educational, financial, and personal situations of low-income women in the Southern Appalachia region.

NOSW is looking for 14 women to participate in this year’s three-week residential program, which is provided free of charge. Support for travel and childcare expenses is also available. During the session, participants will explore career opportunities, set educational objectives, and cultivate leadership abilities, all while immersing themselves in the college’s historic campus and the picturesque surrounding mountains.

Women who possess a GED or high school diploma, belong to the low-income category, have roots in or reside in the Southern Appalachia region, and are dedicated to advancing their education and career are encouraged to apply for the upcoming session with NOSW.
